Project Overview

Brooke and Andrew wanted a clean, modern refresh focused on function and long-term durability. The work prioritized the spaces that impact daily life the most: an updated kitchen with a full cabinet replacement and improved lighting, refinished first-floor flooring to unify the main level, a guest bathroom refresh featuring a built-in drop-in tub with quartz deck surfaces, and an upstairs bathroom conversion from tub to shower with plumbing and fixture relocation.

Existing Conditions

  • Kitchen: dated cabinetry and finishes; recessed lighting placement did not support key task areas.
  • First floor: flooring finish was worn and inconsistent across main living spaces.
  • Guest bathroom: needed a functional refresh and better entry layout; toilet orientation created an awkward door interaction.
  • Upstairs bathroom: tub layout no longer fit the client's needs and required plumbing changes for a proper shower conversion and improved fixture placement.

Scope of Work

  • Kitchen Update
  • Removed existing kitchen cabinets and installed a full new cabinet set with a modern profile.
  • Installed quartz countertops (standard mid to high-grade material selection).
  • Updated backsplash tile and coordinated finish transitions.
  • Updated kitchen electrical, including recessed light relocation to improve task lighting.
  • First Floor Flooring
  • Refinished the entire first-floor flooring for a consistent appearance throughout the main level.
  • Guest Bathroom Renovation
  • Installed a new drop-in tub.
  • Built quartz countertop deck surfaces on both sides of the tub for a clean built-in look.
  • Adjusted toilet orientation so entry clearance is improved and the door does not create an awkward collision point.
  • Completed lighting updates as needed to match the refreshed finishes.
  • Upstairs Bathroom Renovation
  • Converted tub to shower.
  • Relocated shower drain and water supply to match the new shower layout.
  • Relocated the toilet to improve function and spacing.
  • Completed lighting updates as needed to support the updated configuration.

Key Challenges

  • Phasing and coordination to keep the home as functional as possible during construction.
  • Accurate plumbing relocation for the tub-to-shower conversion, including correct drain placement and supply routing.
  • Improving tight clearances in the guest bath by correcting the toilet orientation.
  • Clean finish detailing at transitions between cabinetry, quartz surfaces, tile, and existing trim elements.
